Slow poisoning of India

India is the largest users of crop pesticides, not because they have more farmland but because they use it excessively. Not surprising as they have no governing body for the use of pesticides. With so much pesticide sprayed, guess where it's goes to ultimately? Humans.

Chemical pesticides such as edosulfin is used extensively in a village where Cashew nuts are grown. The use of edosulfin on these Cashew crops has been going on for more than 20 years, and the effects are showing up. The edosulphin is sprayed by a helicopter from the air, thus plenty of the chemical is inhaled and consumed by the villagers there. Villagers have experienced increased number of skin diseases and genetic defects such as mental retardation since the use of edosulfin.

India is one of the largest exporter of cashews, this added to the fact that the pesticide is overused, you can see why India is slowly getting poisoned. The documentary below also discussed other pesticides used such as DDT which is also toxic.
