The Vitamins

Are vitamins essential? Definately.
Are vitamin supplementation essential? Definately not.

Here's my take on vitamins supplementation. As long as you do not suffer from mulnutrition, malabsorption conditions or a lack of fruits and vegetables due to environmental conditions, there is no need for supplementations. Just eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and meat and you'll get what you need. Cut out the junk food and fast food, replace it with whole food and there is no need for any pills.

mmm delicious whole food

Our population has been living for years without trouble, only in the 19th century where food supply is scare do people suffer from diseases such as scurvy and beriberi. Fast forward to this century, food supply is surplus! Well, I assume if you have computer and is able to access the internet, food supply is surplus to you.

Besides that, misuse of vitamins is as powerful as misuse of prescription drugs. Superdoses are no joke at all, especially the oil soluble vitamins A,D,E and K. These vitamins when taken in excess are trapped in between layers of your fat unlike the water soluble ones which are flushed through urination.

It is also a well known fact that certain vitamins could aggravate certain health conditions in a person. For example, vitamin E supplement which is suppose to have anti-oxidant effect increases the risk of lung cancer in smokers. Weird isn't it? The cause of cancer through smoking is caused by the oxidative compounds produced by the cigarette. But apparently vitamin E does not work very well in this case.

I actually could go on more about vitamins..
